The multi-million dollar project was approved by the Douglas Shire Council in May and is anticipated for completion by Mid-2025.

The park will be located in Jalunbu Park which can be found just off the main patrolled beach area. The nearly $2.8m project will also feature landscaping, picnic areas, barbecues and shelters. This is a great development for locals and tourists alike, providing a fun and safe area for children to play and families and friends to meet. The theme of the park will be closely linked to the local Indigenous culture, rainforest, beaches and Mossman Gorge.

The splash park is being co-funded by the Queensland Government and Douglas Shire Council.
